Welcome

Welcome to the Children's Library: a place to learn, dream, imagine, and create.

What's Maggie reading?

Did you know that the library has an ellison die machine that library patrons may use? The dies must be used here at the library, and, for safety reasons, only adults may use the machine. Please bring your own paper.
View a list of the dies available for use.

As Shel Silverstein writes in his poem Invitation:
"If you are a dreamer, come in.
If you are a dreamer, a wisher....a magic-bean-buyer....Come in! Come in!
"

“Promise me you'll always remember: you're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."
-- Christopher Robin to Pooh

Services for Teachers

Teacher's Collections
We are pleased to gather collections of books for teachers; for best results, contact us 5-7 days in advance. Let us know theme or topic, grade level, and whether you need duplicate copies, and we'll do the work for you.

Visiting the Library

We welcome class visits!
Whether you'd just like a tour, or would prefer storytime or presentation, we're always available as an educational destination. We can tailor the program to specific curricular goals or content standards.
Call Maggie at 845-3601 or email to schedule a class visit.

If you can't make it to the library, we can come to you:
Children's librarians are available to come to your classroom and present a program.

Presentations could be anything from a storytime (preschool to grade 3), to booktalking (any grade), to a presentation on a specific subject or concept. We've done programs on Christmas Around the World, Tropical Islands, and Pizza Stories! We're willing to tackle just about any subject, and just about any grade level (for example, WWI and its effect on British Literature, for AP English students) as long as you give us a few weeks to prepare.

Presentations can be scheduled for either morning or afternoon sessions. Call Maggie at 845-3601 or email to schedule a classroom visit.
